S&dB is the Dutch abbreviation for the old English fairytale ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. Our curiosity drives the engine for believing in the impossible. That’s how we create magical solutions for superior seed germination by using production methods that may look like a ‘wonder’ to professional growers worldwide.
Organisation
Gerard Otten, the founder of S&dB started the company and is CTO/COO. Harmen Smid joined S&dB in 2022 as founder and CEO. The management is supported by a team of seasoned experts in the field of business development and operations.

Investors
Besides funding by the founders, management and angel investors, S&dB received early stage financial backing from a regional investment fund, called Limburg Business Development Fund. LBDF makes equity investments in outstanding start-up businesses and is managed on a day-to-day level by the LIOF. In 2022 Brightlands Venture Partners stepped in as an investor. BVP is the fund manager of Brightlands Agrifood Fund and is a so-called ecosystem investor.
